LOSS and GAIN                             Henry Wadsworth Longfellow(1807~1882) When I compare What I have lost with what I have gained, What I have missed with what attained, Little room do I find for pride. I am award How many days have been idly spent; How like an arrow the good intent Has fallen short or been turned aside. But who shall dare To measure loss and gain in this wise? Defeat may be victory in disguise; The lowest ebb is the tunn of the tide.              잃은 것과 얻은 것                                          헨리 워드워스 롱펠로 내 이제껏 잃은 것과 얻은 것 놓친 것과 획득한 것 저울질해 보니 자랑할 게 없구나.  하많은 세월을 헛되이 보내고 좋은 의도는 화살처럼 과녁에 못 닿거나 빗나가 버린 걸 내 알고 있으니. 그러나 누가 감히 이런 식으로 손익을 가늠하랴. 패배는 승리의 다른 이름일지도 모른다, 썰물이 나가면 분명 밀물이 오듯이.
